Visual effects supervisors Bill Georgiou and Cameron Neilson were honored at the event in Los Angeles.
The 78th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held in Los Angeles this past weekend, and Industrial Light & Magic was recognized with two wins for their work on recent productions.
Spider-Noir episode “Nightmare on a Gurney” won Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, with ILM visual effects supervisor Cameron Neilson joining fellow recipients Hnedel Maximore, Brooke Noska, Adam Rothstein, Timothy Hanson, Jorge Macis, Taylor Faulkinberry, Joseph C Bond IV, Suzie Askham, Tommy Tran, Adam Balentine, and Sebastiano D’Aprile.
Stranger Things Season Five won Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie, with ILM visual effects supervisor Bill Georgiou joining fellow recipients Betsy Paterson, Michael Maher, Sean Ames, Craig Seitz, Tessa Roehl, Chloe Lipp, Brad Tobler, Martin Hill, Richard Thwaites, Jessica Smith, and Mark Hawker.
Additionally, late last week the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences also announced the nominees in the competitive category, “Excellence in Production Technology — Application.” This category recognizes not the technology itself but the innovative use of applied science and engineering products to produce television in new and unique ways. ILM’s “Oscar” application is nominated for its use on the Emmy-winning Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
