Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

‘tar Wars: Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Consisting of 3,200 visual effects shots, ILM’s work on the episodic series encompassed a wide range of sequences, including multiple worlds, some that were brand new to Star Wars, Wim’s adorable, blue elephant-like best friend Neel, and the initial take off of the Onyx Cinder that sends the kids on their journey into the unknown.

Hubbed out of the ILM San Francisco office, almost all of the global ILM studios had a hand in this project, including the offices in Vancouver, Mumbai, and Sydney, and the previously held office in Singapore. The team was led by production visual effects supervisor John Knoll, visual effects supervisors Eddie Pasquarello, Jeff Capogreco, and Tristan Myles, animation supervisor Shawn Kelly, executive visual effects producers Stacy Bissell, Kacy McDonald, Elayaraja Krishnan, and visual effects producers Nicole Matteson, Tomasz Wachnik, and Praveen Kilaru.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew received 17 Children’s and Family Emmy Award nominations and secured four wins including the Emmy for Outstanding Visual Effects for a Live Action Program. The series was also recognized with three Visual Effects Society Awards nominations, including Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode, Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode, Commercial, Game Cinematic, or Real-Time Project, and Outstanding Compositing and Lighting in an Episode.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is now available to stream on Disney+.
