David Vickery is a BAFTA and VES Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor who serves as Creative Director of ILM’s Mumbai studio. With over 20 years of extensive experience, Vickery has served as Head of Department and Production Visual Effects Supervisor on features such as the Jurassic World franchise, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and Fast & Furious 6.
His work has been recognized with an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA Award for Special Visual Effects for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in addition to numerous Visual Effects Society Award nominations and wins. Before joining ILM, Vickery served as a Senior Visual Effects Supervisor at Double Negative.
Having strong ties to the visual effects community in London, Vickery formerly sat as Co-Chair on the United Kingdom’s board of the Visual Effects Society and is a member of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Ben Morris is a Creative Director at Industrial Light & Magic and a founding member of the company’s London studio, which was established in October of 2013. His recent work includes overseeing ILM’s contributions to ABBA Voyage, a revolutionary new concert featuring ABBA, performing digitally with a live band in a 3,000 capacity arena in London.
Morris began his career as a Model Maker and Animatronics Engineer at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, where he designed performance-control systems for various films, including Babe. Sensing a shift in the industry, Morris moved onto computer graphics, putting his vast experience in physical creature work to use as a character rigger and lead CG artist at Millfilm, where he supervised the CG humans for Ridley Scott’s epic Gladiator. He became a Primetime Emmy and VES Award recipient for his contributions to the mini-series Dinotopia. Morris later earned an Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects and a BAFTA for Best Special Visual Effects for his work on The Golden Compass and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Visual Effects for his work on 2011’s War Horse. In 2017, he was nominated for an Academy, BAFTA, and VES award for his role as Visual Effects Supervisor on Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Morris is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and holds an undergraduate degree and an honorary doctorate from Bristol University.
As Executive in Charge, of Industrial Light & Magic’s London studio, Sue Lyster is responsible for the day-to-day management of the studio and oversees all aspects of production. As a founding member of the studio’s leadership team, Sue has played a key role in managing its growth and has overseen the London studio’s continuing expansion as well as ILM’s expansion to India.
Prior to joining ILM, Sue served as Head of Production at London-based Framestore where she held a variety of roles. In her nine-year tenure with the company, Sue rose rapidly through the ranks, starting as a CG Manager in 2004 and arriving in 2013 as Head of Production.
Earlier in her career, Sue was a Senior Producer in the commercials division of Hibbert Ralph Animation, one of the UK’s top animation production studios. She also served as a Producer at Richard Purdum Productions.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Economic History from the University of Warwick.
