Shawn Smolensky joined Industrial Light & Magic in the summer of 2012, shortly after the studio first opened its doors in Vancouver. He started out as a Production Assistant and has since moved into production leadership roles in short-format content, as well as animation and heavy visual effects features.
An aspiring actor in his youth, including a stint at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre in New York, Smolensky completed a Bachelors of Economics from the University of Victoria only to be lured back to the entertainment industry. Always gravitating to the art of story-telling, Smolensky feels that connecting with others, whether it be with theatre goers or clients, is a central part of ILM’s success. Smolensky is looking forward to continuing his experience working at such a high-level studio, helping to produce quality content in various mediums.
